On the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, the names of the five future missionaries were made known by Mo. Marie de la Paix. They were: Sr. Marie de St. Paul, OP (Pauline Guilmette), Sr. Gabriel de L’Annonciation, OP (Rita Blais); Sr. Marie de St. Pierre, (OP (Cecile Denis); Sr. Blanche-Marie, OP (Theresé Naud); and Sr. Pauline Therese, OP (Theresé Corriveau).
May 15, 1948
Departure date of the five missionaries. On board the SS General Gordon they
crossed the Pacific Ocean en route to Manila via Hawaii.
June 9, 1948
The five missionary sisters arrived in Davao.
October 1, 1948
The Sisters opened their purchased “Hospital de San Pedro” from Dr. Alfredo
Rivera.
November 1949
Construction of a new hospital building in Sta. Ana Parish commences.
May 1, 1950
Inauguration of the new hospital of 50 beds, to be known as San Pedro Hospital. The Sisters had their own quarters on the first floor of the hospital.
December 25, 1950
The Canadian Sisters opened its doors for its first postulants. Sr. Filipina Paña, op (Sr. Catherine-Marie) and Sr. Ofelia Salomia, OP (Sr. Anne-Marie) were the first two Filipinas to pronounce their vows.
October 3, 1955
A lot at the back of the hospital was successfully purchased. A two-storey Nursing School building was constructed.
March 19, 1965
Groundbreaking of the present SPH building; Sr. Pauline Guilmette, OP fulfills her cherished dream hospital on St. Joseph’s feast day.
February 11, 1969
The 350 bed capacity SPH was inaugurated by Papal Nuncio, His Excellency, Rev. Carmine Rocco.
1998
SPH Celebrates 50 th Anniversary: The Golden Years of Community Service. It was spearheaded by Sr. Florida T. Manzano, OP and Dr. Romeo A. Custodio.
September 2002
Sr. Mary R. Sando, OP officially receives its ISO 9001:2000 Certification for the Hospital.
2008
Sr. Carmelita E. Llanos, OP and Dr. Jet Lu at the helm of the preparations for the hospital’s 60th Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
